Esther Iverem
Esther IveremEsther Iverem is an award-winning journalist and author whose most recent book is We Gotta Have It: Twenty Years of Seeing Black at the Movies, 1986-2006 (Thunder's Mouth Press). A former staff writer for several newspapers, including The Washington Post and Newsday, she is founder of SeeingBlack.com, a website for Black critical voices on arts, media and politics. Her reviews are also heard on WPFW Pacifica Radio in Washington, D.C., where she produces and hosts a talk show and a news magazine. Her reviews have also appeared on Tom Joyner's BlackAmericaWeb.com, BET.com and The Huffington Post. She is a member of the Alliance of Women Film Journalists and the recipient of numerous honors, including a USC Annenberg/Getty Arts Journalism Fellowship, a National Arts Journalism Fellowship and an artist's fellowship from the D.C. Commission on the Arts and Humanities. She is also the author of two books of poems.
