Ian Buckwalter
Ian Buckwalter is a film critic for NPR and DCist.com. He made his first forays into arts criticism as an undergraduate pop music critic. After the better part of a decade spent working in the soon-to-be-extinct autodidact's film school of independent video stores, he began writing about the movies.

For the NPR website, Ian writes exclusively about film, while at DCist, the most popular local blog in the nation's capital, Ian also serves as a senior editor and occassionally writes about pop music and theatre. But he writes primarily about the movies, posting reviews of new theatrical releases, as well as a film column titled 'Popcorn & Candy', which serves as a weekly overview of the city's diverse film offerings, from major releases, to festivals, to the esoteric and sometimes obscure cinema featured in DC's museums, bars, and embassies.
