Teddy Durgin
Teddy DurginTeddy Durgin can't lie. He was one of those Gen Xers who saw the original "Star Wars" as a child, was enthralled from the first moment that Star Destroyer blasted overhead seemingly from the back of theater, and knew instantly he wanted to do something with his life that involved the movies. Ignoring the pleas of law and medicine from his family, he has been the film critic for the Relaxer section of the Avenue News — a chain of neighborhood weekly papers in the Baltimore metro area — since October 1997. In addition, he has been writing content reviews for Jim Judy's ScreenIt.com since July 2009. And he operates his own e-mail subscription service, affectionately known as Teddy's Takes, which sends out reviews of film, TV, and pop culture to readers all over the world twice a week. Teddy's TakesHis favorite movies include "Raiders of the Lost Ark," "The Shawshank Redemption," "Election," and "Children of Men." He is happily married and has a daughter who is starting to work movie quotes into her everyday speak as much as her daddy. Recently we watched a beautiful sunset together, and she looked up at me and said, "Daddy, it's just like Cloud City!" I wept openly for five minutes.
